So, yellow leaves begin to dance,
In autumn’s grasp, so cold and bare,
Outside the window, snowflakes prance,
Like restless thoughts, drift in the air.
Again doubts wraps around my mind,
I need to shake awake my soul,
I step outside, need breath to find,
What’s lingered long in shadows’ toll.
Upon the streets where puddles gleam,
Beneath umbrellas swaying low,
Where foggy veils obscure the dream;
Pale faces pass as currents flow.
Yet hope’s soft whisper calls my name,
I seek a beauty lost in haze,
A vision sparks – a flickering flame.
Like softly hope in caring gaze.
And if I find her smile anew,
Like dawn that breaks through heavy night,
It sweeps the shadows from my view,
Restores the world with golden light.
