EXCELSIOR

Without flinty rocks abound
A hand would never light a fire,
No pyramids could rise around,
Nor ground fleeting feet acquire.
Unless there were heights erected,
Be it a column or a steeple,
No minds would ever get connected,
Nor apes will ever be the people.
If humans weren't aiming higher,
Flat Earth could never turn a sphere,
Stars were spangles on black attire,
Shakespeare and Dante disappeared.
Dreams dwell in heavens, deeds are set in stone,
From humble beginnings to a shiny throne.
