not yet my darling
you shouldn’t yet…
return to your garden tree for now
you’ll taste your forbidden fruit one day
but Lilith and Eve entreated me
I do have to murder Abel yet
meander as Cain in agony
to Israel crawl intrepidly
as old unremitting Abraham
and lie down beneath my father’s knife
as Isaac for all humanity
and challenge the Lord defiantly
as Jacob in his insanity
I have to defeat Goliath yet
as destitute naked prodigy
bemoan my mistreated fatherland
with tears of relentless prophecy

but when on the way to Eternity
I set out with the old cross, staggering
trust me darling
you will return to me
long-awaited…
